Description
Fully Procedural Day & Night Skybox for Built-in, URP and HDRP. Fast, optimized and mobile-ready: the entire sky is one combined shader that handles everything by itself.
🌅 DEMO AVAILABLE! 🌅Try every preset yourself RIGHT HERE: don't just look at the sky, play around with it! 🎮 Android | Windows
The whole sky (gradient, sun or moon, stars and clouds) is a single shader pass driven by one profile asset you author in seconds, save as a preset, and swap at runtime. Drop in one component, pick a profile, press Play. No camera stack, no per-frame scripts, no post-processing: the shader does the work on its own.
Features:
- One combined skybox pass renders the entire sky in Shader Model 2.5 with zero per-frame CPU cost. No Update loop, no per-camera script. Built for mobile and WebGL budgets.
- Three-stop HDR gradient sky with an adjustable horizon falloff, from noon blue to fantasy dusk. Nudge it and the same sky goes from clear noon to alien dusk to the red glow over a burning city.
- Sun or moon disk with authored size, color and halo glow. As it sets, the horizon tints toward it.
- Generate your own star fields and cloud sheets right inside the profile inspector. Change a single number and it's a different sky. Nobody else will ship yours.
- Twinkling stars with an optional Milky Way band, tweak to your liking.
- Tileable drifting clouds with dynamic intensity and speeds.
- Drives your directional light and ambient straight from the sky, your night profile lights look like night.
- Day & night cycle and cross-fades between any two profiles, both as sample scenes you own and edit.
Included:
- 5 ready-made profiles, 3 moon faces, 4 star cubemaps, 4 cloud sheets.
- 2 sample scenes ready to play with.
- Full C# and shader source, 19 edit mode tests, README and samples guide.
- Zero dependencies, no plugins, no DI container. It compiles in an empty project.
Perfect for mobile, WebGL, RPG, adventure, stylized and open-world games.
Key features
Performance:
- One combined skybox shader draws the entire sky in a single pass: gradient, sun or moon disk and halo, stars and clouds.
- Shader Model 2.5. Zero per-frame CPU cost: no Update loop, no per-camera script, no post-processing pass.
- Built for mobile and WebGL budgets.
Render Pipelines:
- Built-in and URP run from the same files: no pipeline switch, no setup step.
- A complete HDRP edition is included in the package (Pipelines folder).
- Sky profiles are pipeline-agnostic: author a sky once and it reads the same in all three.
Content:
- 1 combined skybox shader, 1 sky material, 5 sky profiles.
- 4 star cubemaps, 4 cloud sheets, 3 moon faces.
- 19 EditMode tests.
Texture Generators:
- Regenerate star fields and cloud sheets with your own seed and resolution.
- Star resolutions: 1024 / 2048 / 4096. Cloud resolutions: 256 / 512 / 1024.
Texture Sizes:
- Star cubemaps: 4096x2048 lat-long and 8192x6144 cross (2048 px faces).
- Cloud sheets: 1024x1024 (one at 512x512). Moon faces: 1024x1024.
- Sample surface maps: 256x256.
Samples:
- 2 sample scenes: DefaultSample cross-fades between the presets in any order; DayCycleSample runs a sun/moon day cycle with Play, Pause and a Time slider.
- 13 meshes with a prefab each, 3 sample materials, 1 sample surface shader (Built-in and URP SubShaders in one file).
- Scenery totals 806 triangles (1,786 vertices), 40 to 192 per mesh, authored at 1 unit = 1 metre, one shared material.
