Editor's Cut

Pros

Amplify Color is widely regarded as a high-performance, industry-standard tool for professional color grading that significantly elevates visual fidelity with minimal impact on frame rates, even on mobile and VR platforms. Its primary strength lies in its seamless, intuitive workflow that allows developers to leverage external image editing software like Photoshop or Gimp to create custom LUTs, combined with powerful features like volume-based blending, depth masking, and render masks that offer granular control over scene atmosphere. The asset is frequently praised for its ease of implementation, robust documentation, and exceptional developer support, making it a staple for developers looking to achieve AAA-quality post-processing results.
While it remains a powerful, high-performance industry tool for color grading, its current state of maintenance and potential compatibility issues with modern rendering pipelines make it a risky dependency for new, long-term production projects.

Cons

The asset has faced criticism regarding its maintenance status, with some users reporting a lack of recent updates and deprecation warnings in newer Unity versions, leading to concerns about long-term compatibility. Technical hurdles persist for some users, particularly regarding platform-specific support for Android, integration issues with certain rendering pipelines, and the requirement for third-party software knowledge to fully utilize its potential. Additionally, the transition of the asset to a free model has caused friction among legacy purchasers who feel alienated by the lack of retroactive support or compensation, while others find the documentation occasionally outdated relative to current Unity standards.
