Editor's Cut

Pros

This asset is widely regarded as an essential, high-value tool that effectively bridges the gap between modern Mecanim animations and the legacy animation system, saving developers significant time and effort. Users consistently praise its ease of use, clear documentation, and the developer's responsiveness to feedback, with many noting that it functions reliably across various Unity versions and provides a critical solution for projects requiring legacy animation support.
While it is an indispensable utility for legacy animation workflows, its technical limitations with complex rotations and lack of batch processing mean you should treat it as a specialized helper rather than a production-grade automated pipeline.

Cons

The tool exhibits limitations with complex, full-rotation animations like backflips or rolling kicks, and it occasionally requires manual intervention to fix exported animation settings or transform issues. Some users have reported installation or UI visibility bugs, and the lack of a robust batch processing feature makes handling large libraries of animations tedious, while support for specific bone-level baking and automated character assignment remains a requested but missing functionality.

Description

Animation Baker helps you to convert animations retargeted by Mecanim into Unity legacy animations. I.e. you can retarget any animations from some humanoid characters onto your character through Mecanim as usual and bake resultant animation into Unity *.anim file in order to use it with legacy animation system.
Supports Unity 5.

Use Animation Baker Pro for more efficiency.
